American Red Cross of Rhode Island DISASTER SERVICES

Be A Volunteer - Sign Up Online Now!The Red Cross of Rhode Island needs individuals to provide emergency relief to disaster victims. Disaster team members are on a rotating shift, responding to house fires, weather emergencies and other disasters. You will be trained, free of charge, in First Aid, CPR and other disaster courses. We have an acute need for Spanish-speaking volunteers. Opportunities to participate in disaster relief around the country. Approximately 20 hours required training. American Red Cross of Rhode Island PREPAREDNESS AND HEALTH & SAFETY

The Chapter offers many diverse opportunities for volunteers interested in providing emergency life saving information to the community. The various functions include first aid stations and health fairs. Also available are opportunities in becoming a Health and Safety Instructor to teach classes such as CPR, First Aid, Babysitters Training, Water Safety, and Lifeguard Instruction. Training is available and consists of approximately 20-30 hours of instruction. Schedules vary depending on level of teaching. Click here for more information.

American Red Cross of Rhode Island OFFICE SUPPORT

The Chapter collaborates with agencies such as RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program), Opportunities Unlimited, VCRI (Volunteer Center of Rhode Island) and individuals throughout the state to provide them with meaningful volunteer opportunities. Office support includes data entry, filing, typing, correlating handouts and mailings and answering telephones. Hours are very flexible, but must be within office hours of 8:30 am 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Help raise funds for the Red Cross. Ideas such as dress down days, donation canister distribution, site displays, volunteer fairs and various are fun and easy to do. No training required. View more fundraising ideas.

Interested in helping out with the "behind the scenes" details of a Red Cross event? Help is needed in the weeks and months leading up to an event -- assisting with mailings, securing and transporting raffle items, promoting the event around town and with your group of friends and family coworkers, and so much more. If you are interested in helping, please complete the online volunteer form and check the events box.
