Taco, Inc. and The John and Happy White
Foundation offer $10,000 challenge match for tsunami disaster relief
Alan Shawn Feinstein's challenge match raises $36,000
John Hazen White, Jr. of Taco, Inc. and The John and Happy White Foundation have offered a $10,000
matching grant to assist with relief efforts for victims of the tsunami in southern Asia. This match follows on the heels of Alan Shawn Feinstein's match, offered just 24 hours ago. Donations poured
in and, in response to Mr. Feinstein's match, the RI Chapter received $35,000 in donations to aid victims of the tsunami -- $26,000 of that came in since this morning.
"We greatly appreciate community leaders like John Hazen White, Jr. stepping up to the plate to provide
assistance," stated Daniel Samborn, CEO of the American Red Cross, RI Chapter. "Mr. Feinstein led the way with his generosity and we are thrilled local companies such as Taco, Inc. and The John and
Happy White Foundation, are willing to lead the way and match donations from Rhode Islanders."
People wanting to help those affected by the tsunami/earthquake in South Asia and countless other crises around the world each
year may make a financial gift to the American Red Cross International Response Fund, which will provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies,
technical assistance, and other support to help those in need. Call 1-800-HELP-NOW or 1-800-257-7575 (Spanish) to make your tax-deductible donation. Checks may be made out to the American Red Cross International
Response Fund and sent to the American Red Cross, Rhode Island Chapter, 105 Gano Street, Providence, RI 02906. Internet users can make a secure online contribution by visiting www.riredcross.org. These donations will be matched, up to
$10,000, through the generosity of John Hazen White, Jr. of Taco, Inc. and The John and Happy White Foundation.
