FEINSTEIN TO MATCH DONATIONS FOR
TSUNAMI RELIEF EFFORTS

CRANSTON -- Philanthropist Alan Shawn Feinstein yesterday pledged to match up to $10,000 in donations to the American Red Cross of Rhode Island for relief efforts following the tsunami in southern Asia.

"This is a terrible disaster and the survivors are going to need a lot of help," said Feinstein, whose wife is from Thailand, one of the affected countries. "Rhode Islanders reach out to those who need help."

"Mr. Feinstein is a wonderful friend of the Red Cross. We certainly can't do what we do without donors like him," Robin Erickson, director of communications for the American Red Cross of Rhode Island, said yesterday. "Rhode Island doesn't know what a great gem we have in Mr. Feinstein."

Checks should be made out to American Red Cross International Response Fund. Feinstein said "Feinstein tsunami match" should be marked in the memo section. The checks should be sent in the next week to: American Red Cross, Rhode Island Chapter, 105 Gano St., Providence, RI 02906.
