Monday, December 8, 2003 RI Red Cross assisting Providence residents
displaced by fuel tank rupture
American Red Cross of Rhode Island volunteers responded to an incident Monday afternoon at 143
Donelson Street in Providence, where a home heating fuel tank had ruptured. A total of twelve people were displaced from their home – 7 adults
and 5 children. The RI Red Cross is assisting the residents with food and shelter.
The Red Cross of Rhode Island typically spends $1,000 per family of four that it assists. All Red Cross assistance is free,
thanks to contributions from individuals and organizations. The Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on private donations to provide emergency assistance to Rhode Islanders in crisis.
