RI Red Cross providing assistance to Johnston
residents displaced by fire
The American Red Cross of Rhode Island is providing assistance to two adults burned out of their
apartment complex early Saturday morning at 1139 ½ Hartford Avenue in Johnston. One adult, who could not return to his damaged apartment, required
shelter over the holiday weekend. A second adult opted to stay with family but needed food and clothing assistance from the Red Cross of Rhode Island.
The Red Cross of Rhode Island typically spends $1,000 per family of four that it assists. All Red Cross assistance is free,
thanks to contributions from individuals and organizations. The Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on private donations to provide emergency assistance to Rhode Islanders in crisis.
