Thursday, September 11, 2003 RI Red Cross assisting three families
involved in morning blaze
The American Red Cross of Rhode Island is assisting three families burned out of their home this morning
at 65 Mitchell Street in Providence. Seven people were affected, including two children. All are being assisted by the RI Red Cross.
This morning's Providence fire comes on the heels of a late night single family house
fire Wednesday evening at 9 Roberts Street in Cumberland. Two adults and two children required food, clothing and shelter assistance from the Red Cross.
Monday afternoon, RI Red Cross volunteers responded to a mobile home fire on
Route 2 in Warwick. The couple was traveling from Wisconsin to RI and suffered a fire in their mobile home. RI Red Cross volunteers assisted the two adults with food, clothing and shelter.
The Red Cross of Rhode Island typically spends $1,000 per family of four that it assists. All Red Cross assistance is free,
thanks to contributions from individuals and organizations. The Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on private donations to provide emergency assistance to Rhode Islanders in crisis.
