Cardi's Furniture Superstore hosting fundraiser to benefit RI Red Cross

On Saturday, September 11th, from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, Cardi's Furniture Superstore will host a "drive-in" fundraiser for the RI Red Cross. The fundraiser will be held in the parking lots of each of their three locations: Swansea, MA; Route 2 in West Warwick and Route 1A in South Attleboro, MA. Drive in and donate to support local Red Cross programs and services.

Clear Channel Communications is a supportive partner in this community fundraiser as well. Popular radio personalities Joan Edwards from Coast 93.3, Bruce Palmer from B101, and Arlene Violet from WHJJ will be on hand at various locations greeting guests and showing their support for the work of the RI Red Cross.

Volunteers will be on hand to greet supporters and take donations for local RI Red Cross programs and services. Emergency vehicles will be at each location for families to explore. Information on how to prepare your family for an emergency will be on hand as well.

The American Red Cross is not a government agency and they do not receive any federal or state funding.  Dollars donated in RI stay in RI and directly assist those in need with emergency assistance such as food, clothing and shelter. Donations will also be accepted for the National Disaster Relief Fund and will assist those devastated by Hurricanes Charley and Frances.

The Red Cross of Rhode Island typically spends $1,000 per family of four that it assists. All Red Cross assistance is free, thanks to contributions from individuals and organizations. The Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on private donations to provide emergency assistance to Rhode Islanders in crisis.
