RI Red Cross continues to assist families from
overnight fire and gas leak
RI Red Cross volunteers are now providing emergency food, clothing and shelter assistance to 4
families who were displaced by last night's fire at Arbor Hill Apartments located on Simmonsville Avenue in Johnston.
In addition, volunteers continue to provide emergency services to the family who
resides at 130 Tell Street the scene of a gas explosion last evening.
The Red Cross of Rhode Island typically spends $1,000 per family of four that it assists. All Red Cross assistance is free,
thanks to contributions from individuals and organizations. The Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on private donations to provide emergency assistance to Rhode Islanders in crisis.
