RI Red Cross assisting Providence families
displaced by fire
American Red Cross of Rhode Island volunteers responded to a triple-decker house fire Sunday
evening at 155 Wendell Street in Providence. Three families were displaced from their home. The RI Red Cross is assisting 7 people -- 4 adults and 3 children -- with emergency food and shelter assistance.
The Red Cross of Rhode Island typically spends $1,000 per family of four that it assists. All Red Cross assistance is free,
thanks to contributions from individuals and organizations. The Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on private donations to provide emergency assistance to Rhode Islanders in crisis.
