local Red Cross volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of the September 11th tragedy. Included in the group with be local volunteers who traveled to Ground Zero to assist in relief operations.

WHY: The American Red Cross of Rhode Island employs only 17 full-time
staff. In the months following September 11th, local Red Cross volunteers from across the state logged hundreds of hours of service. From answering
phones to attending fundraisers, to processing donations to assisting in the New York City relief operation, the Board of Directors and staff are saying thanks for their countless hours of commitment.
