Fifteen People Evacuated in Pawtucket
In the third major fire since Sunday morning, American Red Cross of Rhode Island volunteers were
called to 194 North Bend Street in Pawtucket around 10am today.
Three families --- a total of six adults and nine children--- were forced from their
home as a result of the blaze. The American Red Cross of Rhode Island is providing meals, emergency shelter and clothing to the families.
Since early Sunday morning, American Red Cross of Rhode Island volunteers
have assisted 44 Rhode Islanders who have been displaced by fire --- including 18 children.
With so many large-scale fires in such a short time frame, the Red Cross is asking
Rhode Islanders to make a financial contribution to help these and future fire victims. To make a donation, call the American Red Cross of Rhode Island at 401.831.7700 or visit www.riredcross.org to make a secure
financial donation.
In 2002, the American Red Cross responded to 189 fires, providing emergency
services to over 1,000 Rhode Islanders. All American Red Cross disaster assistance is provided free of charge.
