Blue Cross/Blue Shield Employee Wins Red Cross Health & Safety Award Kurt Rix, Senior Health Educator with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Rhode Island, is the winner of the regional Red Cross award for Health & Safety Services. A Red Cross instructor trainer, Kurt volunteers to prepare & evaluate new Red Cross teachers. A former Red Cross college intern, Kurt worked in the Health & Safety department until 1989. During his time at Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Kurt has encouraged his company, the largest health insurance provider in Rhode Island, to teach Red Cross
