Red Cross Assists Families at Tuesday Night Fire in Pawtucket

Red Cross disaster volunteers were called to the scene of an apartment fire Tuesday evening at 420-422 Pawtucket Ave. in Pawtucket.

Six families --- a total of 9 adults and 4 children --- received Red Cross emergency services. Two families stayed with relatives and received groceries, while four families required shelter at a hotel as well as meals.

Two additional families did not require services and three families were not at home at the time of the blaze.

This fire marks the 87^th incident volunteers have responded to in 2003. So far this year, 580 Rhode Islanders have received emergency services --- free of charge --- from the American Red Cross of Rhode Island.
