Red Cross Assists Families at Tuesday Night Fire in Pawtucket

Red Cross disaster volunteers were called to the scene of an apartment fire Tuesday evening at 420-422 Pawtucket Ave. in Pawtucket.

Six families --- a total of 9 adults and 4 children --- received Red Cross emergency services. Two families stayed with relatives and received groceries, while four families required shelter at a hotel as well as meals.

Two additional families did not require services and three families were not at home at the time of the blaze.

This fire marks the 87th incident volunteers have responded to in 2003. So far this year, 580 Rhode Islanders have received emergency services --- free of charge --- from the American Red Cross of Rhode Island.
